Hi, I'm Kate.

I work at the intersection of tech, privacy, art, and organizing.

Bringing a scrappy background in nonprofit to mission-driven tech projects, I have a deep passion for bringing people from different areas of expertise together to build for a better future. Currently I'm running a digital security fund for autonomy and democracy movement organizations.

In my free time I engage on a variety of multidisciplinary civic tech projects as an organizer, activist, and artist. I’m especially interested how artistic methods can interrogate use of AI-driven computer vision, other analytical technologies in surveillance, and related intersections with our civil liberties. Recently, I’ve been exploring connections between digital autonomy and bodily autonomy, growth of surveillance industries in rural areas, and how our diverse relationships to public lands informs policymaking around public vs private records, spaces, and rights.

I can often be found doing my part to preserve free press and open data in my rural community, conducting independent computer vision research, organizing around abortion access & housing affordability in the beautiful place I call home.
